Exclusive video: Actress Kassie DePaiva talks “WE ARE WHAT WE ARE”—and “EVIL DEAD II”!
In WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, Kassie DePaiva plays the small but crucial role of Emma, mother of the rural cannibal clan. As Kassie Wesley, she was Bobby Joe in Sam Raimi’s classic EVIL DEAD II. Yours truly spoke to the actress about both movies for this exclusive video interview.
Outside of her 26-years-apart turns in these two topnotch horror films, DePaiva may be best known to soap-opera fans for her long-running role on ONE LIFE TO LIVE—over 800 episodes (!), which have occasionally had genre-centric titles like “Aliens vs. Predators,” “The Blair Snitch Project” and “Vlad the Impaler.” In director/co-writer Jim Mickle’s WE ARE WHAT WE ARE (beginning its platform release in New York and Los Angeles today from Entertainment One), it is Emma who serves as caregiver and food “provider” for her husband Frank (Bill Sage), teenage daughters Rose (Julia Garner) and Iris (Ambyr Childers) and young son Rory (Jack Gore)—until a tragedy sets the brood on a collision course with the community around them… See our exclusive video chat with Mickle and co-writer/co-star Nick Damici here, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE’s official website here and our review here.
