Exclusive: “TURKEY SHOOT” remake gets new U.S. title, date, poster

The reboot of the violent Ozploitation classic TURKEY SHOOT (a.k.a. ESCAPE 2000) is coming to the U.S., and it’s got a new name for that release. Read on for the exclusive info and first look at the poster.

Entertainment One will release the film (which we previously reported on here) as ELIMINATION GAME in select theaters and on VOD June 26. The new plotline updates the 1982 TURKEY SHOOT’s human-hunting scenario for the reality-TV age, and stars Dominic Purcell as Rick Tyler, a wrongfully imprisoned Navy SEAL offered a chance at freedom if he takes part in a deadly, globally viewed TV competition program that pits him against the world’s most vicious killers. The movie was directed by Jon Hewitt (whose previous credits include X, ACOLYTES and BLOODLUST) from a script he wrote with Belinda McClory, who also plays the show’s producer. The cast additionally includes Viva Bianca, Robert Taylor, Nicholas Hammond, Carmen Duncan and Roger Ward; original director Brian Trenchard-Smith and producer Antony I. Ginnane were part of the producing team on this one.
