Exclusive: The horror films of Brazil’s Ivan Cardoso coming to the U.S.

CARDOSOCAMPRELEASEFEAT

He’s not as well-known yet as fellow Brazilian José Mojica Marins a.k.a. Coffin Joe, but Ivan Cardoso (pictured above right) also has a long filmography of big-screen horror (and once made a documentary short about Marins). Fango got the exclusive word that his work is finally about to see North American exposure.

Camp Motion Pictures gave us the scoop that it will give Cardoso’s features their first digital and DVD release in the States, both individually and in a collection, with a release date pending. Long sought-after by film scholars and cult-movie aficionados, Cardoso’s pictures span many subgenres; the titles Camp will release are:

NOSFERATU IN BRAZIL

O SEGREDO DA MÚMIA/SECRET OF THE MUMMY (co-starring Marins)

AS SETE VAMPIRAS/THE SEVEN VAMPIRES

O ESCORPIÃO ESCARLATE/THE SCARLET SCORPION (pictured below)

UM LOBISOMEM NA AMAZONIA/A WEREWOLF IN THE AMAZON (starring Paul Naschy as the wolfman/Dr. Moreau!)

O SARCÓFAGO MACABRO/THE MACABRE SARCOPHAGUS

We’ll bring you more details on these releases as we hear ’em!
