The old ways of showing movies are dying, but Robert Englund’s alive and scaring in THE LAST SHOWING. Fango got the exclusive word on the movie’s impending release.
Screen Media Films gave us the scoop that it has acquired all North American rights to THE LAST SHOWING, with VOD availability scheduled for late September and a DVD release planned for a month later, just in time for Halloween. Phil Hawkins wrote and directed the film; here’s the synopsis: “When projectionist Stuart Lloyd [Englund] is made redundant by the multiplex cinema he has given his life to, he looks to exact his vengeance on a generation that no longer requires his skills. Trapping an innocent couple [Finn Jones and Emily Berrington] inside the cinema after a midnight screening of a horror movie, he decides to create his own film starring real people using the CCTV cameras. As the couple struggle to escape his plot, Stuart’s movie has one final twist: He wants to become the hero of his own movie.”
“We can’t wait to bring this smart and scary film to horror fans in time for Halloween,” says Screen Media’s Seth Needle. “We’ve waited long enough to see Robert Englund in another iconic role.” Adds Hawkins, “We’re excited to be working with Screen Media on the U.S. release of THE LAST SHOWING. Our aim was to create a smart, cinematic and thrilling movie that would play to international audiences for movie fans and of Robert alike.” For more on the film, head over to its Facebook page.
