Exclusive pics, poster: “PUNK ROCK HOLOCAUST 3”; more Cannes horrors
Independent film company Backseat Conceptions is repping a number of fright flicks at the current Cannes Film Festival, including PUNK ROCK HOLOCAUST 3, the latest in the music-and-murder series. We’ve got exclusive images from that film and info on the others below.
Directed by Doug Sakmann from a script he wrote with Geoff Mosher, PUNK ROCK HOLOCAUST 3 follows in the franchise tradition of letting the demonic Executioner loose on the Vans Warped Tour, filmed during the music event in 2011 and 2012, with Angelo Moore of Fishbone (3rd photo below) co-starring. The synopsis: “Angelo is hosting his own talk show on the Warped Tour. Along with his field producer James, they travel with the tour interviewing bands on a homemade talk show set on a school bus. On the road, Angelo and James cross paths with a mysterious masked woman who is being trailed by the private investigator Detective Policeman. As this new ‘Lady Executioner’ murders her way through the tour, the original Executioner also returns to exact his revenge! Warped founder Kevin Lyman is once again caught in the middle of the madness, trying to maintain the summer’s biggest rock fest and keep the satanic record exec Belial (once again played by Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman) at bay amidst the biggest Punk Rock Holocaust yet!”
Bands whose members appear in the movie include Against Me, Pepper, Fishbone, Peelander Z, Grieves, The Exposed, We The Kings, Lucero, New Year’s Day, Larry and His Flask, The Dance Party, Cold 43 (4th photo below), Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, The Expendables, Foxy Shazam, The Aggrolites, Cherri Bomb, Sick of Sarah, Justina and more. New to the PUNK ROCK HOLOCAUST acting ensemble are Natalie Jean, J.D. Brown and Tim Cronin.
Other horror films Backseat has at Cannes include Adam Ahlbrandt’s CROSS BEARER (see previous story here) and THE CEMETERY (article here); THE 7TH DAY, directed by Jason Koch and produced by Dire Wit Films of PLEASURES OF THE DAMNED and ISLE OF THE DAMNED, about a man torn between his loves for a pretty waitress and murder; and Jason Von Godi and Jason Rader’s THE HOOT OWL, in which a maniac terrorizes folks who venture too close to his East Texas home. Sakmann is also assisting the Troma Team with their “Occupy Cannes” initiative, including a sneak preview of the new RETURN TO NUKE ‘EM HIGH: VOL. 1 today and the official world premiere May 21.
