Celebrated genre author Joe R. Lansdale is getting some solid cinematic exposure this month with the release of COLD IN JULY, based on his novel, and one of his short stories is now coming to screen life as well. Read on for the info and some exclusive pics.

Lansdale’s tale “By the Hair of the Head” (first published in Charles L. Grant’s SHADOWS #6 collection) is the source of one of the four segments in CREEPERS, an omnibus fright feature currently in production for Reel Progress LLC. The company’s founder, Mike T. Lyddon, directed the “By the Hair” chapter, in which a writer who has rented a room in an old Victorian house discovers something frightening about its caretaker; also part of the team are THE POD’s Jeremiah Kipp, adapting Edgar Allan Poe’s “Berenice”; SLIME CITY’s Gregory Lamberson, tackling Jeff Strand’s “Gave Up the Ghost”; and actor/musician/filmmaker Christian Walker (who stars in “By the Hair”), filming Lafcadio Hearn’s “Of a Promise Broken.” Production is scheduled to wrap up in July for release this coming October; for more details, visit the official website and Facebook page.
