Exclusive “MARTYRS” remake photos reveal the suffering

Can the American remake of MARTYRS recapture the cruel intensity of the French original? Get a taste of its horrors in an exclusive batch of photos you can see past the jump.

The new MARTYRS sees theatrical and digital release January 22 from Anchor Bay Entertainment. Brothers Kevin and Michael Goetz directed the film, and VACANCY’s Mark L. Smith adapted Pascal Laugier’s original screenplay. THE CONJURING’s Peter Safran and the Blumhouse team were among the producers, and the cast is headed by Troian Bellisario, Bailey Noble, Kate Burton, Toby Huss, Caitlin Carmichael and Lexi DiBenedetto. The synopsis: “Ten-year-old Lucie flees from the isolated warehouse where she has been held prisoner. Deeply traumatized, she is plagued by awful night terrors at the orphanage that takes her in. Her only comfort comes from Anna, a girl her own age. Nearly a decade later and still haunted by demons, Lucie finally tracks down the family that tortured her. As she and Anna move closer to the agonizing truth, they find themselves trapped in a nightmare—if they cannot escape, a martyr’s fate awaits them…”
