Exclusive: Festival favorite “PROXY” gets a U.S. date; new photos

Director Zack Parker, who won raves for his psychological thriller SCALENE, has garnered equal praise for his disturbing PROXY on the festival circuit over the past year. Now we’ve got the exclusive release info and some behind-the-scenes photos.

IFC Films gave Fango the scoop that PROXY will arrive April 18 in select theaters as well as on-demand and digital platforms. Parker (1st photo below) and Kevin Donner wrote the screenplay, which begins with a pregnant young woman named Esther (Alexia Rasmussen, 2nd photo) suffering a violent assault. Attending a support group to try to recover from the attack, Esther is befriended by fellow survivor Melanie (Alexa Havins, pictured above), but their relationship leads Esther into some very unsettling territory. HALLOWEEN’s Kristina Klebe (3rd photo) and YOU’RE NEXT’s Joe Swanberg co-star; DEADGIRL’s Jim Ojala (4th photo) created the makeup FX. See the trailer below the pics, the official website here and our review here, and look for more coverage at this site soon and in Fango #332, on sale next month.
