The great Italian tradition of undead bloodletting carries on into the 21st century with MORITURIS, which sees its U.S. Blu-ray and DVD debut this fall. We’ve got the scoop on the details and the first look at the cover art.
Fango got the word that Synapse Films will release MORITURIS September 8. Directed by Raffaele Picchio from a script he wrote with Tiziano Martella and Gianluigi Perrone, it features graphic makeup FX by veteran artist Sergio Stivaletti. The synopsis: “Two lovely Romanian girls take a trip with three Italian men to a rumored midnight rave in the middle of a dark forest. As the gang proceeds on foot to their final destination, a mysterious graveyard is discovered, a shockingly vile plot twist is revealed and bloodthirsty undead Roman gladiators rise from the dead to torture and mutilate their victims! For the two women, an already terrifying night is about to get much, much worse, as the zombified warriors hunt down the group to tear their heads off! Will anyone survive the night?”
Synapse will present the movie in 1.85 widescreen transfers (1080p hi-def on the Blu-ray), with DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround sound on the Blu-ray and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio on the DVD. The original theatrical trailer will be included on both discs, which will also sport reversible cover art. Retail prices are $24.95 for the Blu-ray, $19.95 for the DVD.
