“EVIL DEAD” Series Adds Lucy Lawless; Becomes Full-Fledged Raimi ReunionMovies/TV,News Ken W. Hanley
Just when you thought that you couldn’t anticipate Starz’s EVIL DEAD series more, this news has to break: Starz has confirmed Blastr‘s report earlier today that inimitable geek goddess Lucy Lawless has joined the cast of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD. Even better, Lawless seems to be playing Ash’s foil, as Starz describes her as “a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent evil outbreaks, but the only problem is that she believes that Ash is the cause of it all.”
Now, Raimi die-hards are likely jumping for joy: Of course, Lawless was launched to stardom in the Sam Raimi-produced XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, on which Campbell had guest starred. And even if you’re not a XENA fan, Lawless has proven herself to be an acting force to be reckoned with, dominating series such as SPARTACUS and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and genre fans will see a much darker side to the actress on the upcoming season of SALEM, if her disturbing debut in the premiere is any indication. And since ASH VS. EVIL DEAD is essentially playing as an event series, there is a chance Lawless will stick around should that show (or her arc on SALEM) have longer legs.
Look out for more on ASH VS. EVIL DEAD and SALEM, including FANGO’s chat with Lawless on the SALEM set, in the near future.
