Dig into “OPEN GRAVE” with Sharlto Copley this December
DISTRICT 9 and ELYSIUM star Sharlto Copley has to figure out how he wound up in an OPEN GRAVE in a movie that premieres at Spain’s Sitges Film Festival this month and has just been set for a U.S. debut later this year.
Tribeca Film has announced that it will release OPEN GRAVE day and date in December on cable/telco and satellite video-on-demand platforms, as well as iTunes, Amazon Watch Instantly, VUDU, PlayStation, and Google Play, followed by theatrical bookings in major markets. Directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego of KING OF THE MOUNTAIN and APOLLO 18, OPEN GRAVE was written by Chris and Eddie Borey and stars Copley as John, “a man who wakes up in a pit of dead bodies with no memory of who he is or how he got there,” according to the official synopsis. “Fleeing the scene, he breaks into a nearby house and is met at gunpoint by a group of terrified strangers, all suffering from memory loss. Suspicion gives way to violence as the group starts to piece together clues about their identities, but when they uncover a threat that’s more vicious than each other, they are forced to figure out what brought them all together—before it’s too late.” The cast also includes Joseph Morgan (Klaus on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and its new spinoff THE ORIGINALS), DARIO ARGENTO’S DRACULA’s Thomas Kretschmann, Erin Richards and DREAM HOME’s Josie Ho.
“This highly original thriller is as full of mystery and suspense as it is of bodies and terror. Anchored by a sterling performance from Sharlto Copley, OPEN GRAVE is an exhilarating journey that leaves us breathless until the very end,” says Tribeca’s Geoff Gilmore. Adds producer William Green of Atlas Independent, “Tribeca Film understands the dynamics of independent filmmaking, they appreciate unique storytelling and support emerging talent. OPEN GRAVE is a film with a distinct point of view, so Tribeca Film was the perfect choice to champion the project alongside us at Atlas Independent.” See OPEN GRAVE’s Facebook page here.
