With Thanksgiving upon us, horror fans have much to be grateful for. To show our thanks, FANGORIA is spending Thanksgiving weekend offering up four original, horror-inspired cocktail recipes from the mind of FANGO’s own Ken W. Hanley. So break out your finest goblets, pick your poison, and drink responsibly!
Freddy’s Sweet Dream
(Inspired by the 1984 film A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET)
2 oz. Captain Morgan Dark Rum
1 oz. Kraken Spiced Rum
6 oz. Lemon Sweetened Iced Tea [Suggested Brand: Brisk]
3 oz. Pineapple Soda
Can’t sleep? Maniacal child murderer keeping you up? Never fear! This sugar-fueled concoction should help keep you awake!
It’s a fairly simple recipe: first, acquire a 12 oz. (or greater) container, and stock up on ingredients. Trust me, you’ll need them, as the Elm Street Hard Candy shot is fairly addicting. Start off with a small amount of ice (1/4 of the container or less) and insert the 1 ounce of Kraken Spiced Rum. Add 3 ounces of Pineapple Soda and stir liberally. Pour in 2 ounces of Captain Morgan Dark Rum, stir again, and then add in 6 ounces of Lemon Sweetened Iced Tea. Top off with one more cube of ice, stir once for posterity, and voila! You’ll have a delicious alcoholic beverage that magically tastes just like bubblegum and will burn itself into your brain for good!
Looking to scare off a few calories? Go for unsweetened iced tea, pineapple juice instead of soda, and substitute the Kraken Spiced Rum with Amaretto for flavor!
