“COLLAPSED” creator talks new projects; exclusive poster and artMovies/TV,News Michael Gingold
One of the most impressive indie genre films to come out of Canada in recent years was Justin McConnell’s THE COLLAPSED (pictured above), and while the filmmaker was visiting Montreal’s Fantasia festival this week, Fango got the scoop on his next couple of projects; he also gave us the exclusive first look at poster and promo art for them.
“I have a few things on the go at the moment,” McConnell tells Fango. “I’m planning to direct another microbudget horror flick just after Christmas, while we continue to develop [his long-in-the-works vampire film] THE ETERNAL. The working title is TRIPPED, but that may change, and it’s a horror/comedy this time—sort of the exact opposite of the tone of THE COLLAPSED. It’s a script Kevin Hutchinson—RIP—and I wrote several years ago, and exists in the same universe as those other films. I’m currently working on a redraft.
“In addition, I’m a producer on an upcoming horror film called IT GOT OUT, to be directed by the talented Joseph Nanni,” McConnell continues. Nanni has made numerous horror shorts, including BLACK GOAT (which he’s currently developing as a feature) and a few inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, and McConnell adds that IT GOT OUT “is a loose adaption of Lovecraft’s story ‘From Beyond,’ in which three co-workers trapped in an office inadvertently unleash a malevolent creature from another dimension. The script is both funny and horrifying in equal measure.” We’ll bring you more on these projects as learn it!
