Clive Barker’s “BOOKS OF BLOOD” story “Jacqueline Ess” coming to the screen
Another of the BOOKS OF BLOOD is being translated to the visual medium, as Raven Banner Entertainment has optioned Clive Barker’s short story “Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament” for screen treatment.
The Toronto-based Raven Banner has pacted with Barker’s Seraphim Films on the project, with a script currently in the works. “Jacqueline Ess,” from Volume Two of the BOOKS OF BLOOD (which also contained the previously filmed “Dread”), tells of a woman who has the telekinetic ability to alter people’s body shapes in horrific ways, and who can mentally give men the ultimate sexual experience—one that always in the guys’ deaths. “All of us at Raven Banner have been huge fans of Clive’s for years,” says the company’s Andrew Hunt, “and I personally have always loved the story of Jacqueline Ess. It has all the qualities one wants in a modern horror film, so I’m excited to see it finally being brought to life on film.”
“We love what Raven Banner is doing for horror,” adds Seraphim VP Mark Miller. “We are excited to be collaborating with them.” Production on the JACQUELINE ESS movie is scheduled to begin this fall.
