Cinemax takes Robert Kirkman’s Exorcism series, “OUTCAST”

Set to debut in both comic and television form, Robert Kirkman’s (THE WALKING DEAD) exorcism/possession yarn OUTCAST has lined up a home on the latter.

THR is reporting Cinemax has given a script commitment to OUTCAST—still a ways off from going to series—which follows lead character Kyle Barnes, who attempts to understand his history of possession and, of course, finds the fate of the world at stake.

Kirkman says, “”Despite the success of THE WALKING DEAD, OUTCAST  is only my second foray into the horror genre. I think Kyle Barnes is every bit as compelling as Rick Grimes and demonic possession is way scarier than zombies — so this is going to be fun. Starting a new project is like setting off on an long journey and I couldn’t ask for better travel companions than David Alpert and [FIC’s] Sharon Tal Yguado and I’m thrilled to be a part of what Cinemax has planned for the next few years.”

Producer Sharon Tal Yguado previously called OUTCAST “a reinvention of the genre.”
