Mondo, Phantom City Creative celebrate “HALLOWEEN” in Style with Vinyl and Posters

Halloween belongs to John Carpenter. His seminal film that shares its title with our favorite of holidays remains essential. Having just seen it on the big screen last week, I was thrilled to see it retain eerie, stunning power. In celebration of the classic, Mondo—who’s reinvigorated and helped usher in a wave of truly wonderful poster art— have teamed with frequent collaborators Phantom City Creative on two new posters and the art for Mondo’s vinyl release of Carpenter’s iconic score.

“ARMY OF DARKNESS / REANIMATOR” (Comic Review)

H.P. Lovecrafts HERBERT WEST—REANIMATOR has been adapted or referenced in a dozen different ways, from cartoons to video games to movies, and most famously being the basis for what is arguably one of the greatest horror flicks of the 80s, RE-ANIMATOR. With its shambling corpses and looming horror of the unknown, and an enigmatic, mysterious author to boot, it’s easy to understand why so many creators would be attracted to put their own spin on the classic tale. ARMY OF DARKNESS/REANMIATOR is the latest addition, this time putting EVIL DEAD’s smart-mouthed, chain-sawed leading man Ash in the shoes of the story’s anonymous narrator as he teams up with mad scientist Herbert West. Months on, following plenty of buzz talk about crossing the reboot’s timeline with the original series and Sam Raimi helming an ARMY OF DARKNESS 2, it seems the redo’s follow-up has stalled.

Exclusive Music Video: Dance Hall Pimps’ “The Dead Don’t Walk”

As a horror fan myself, there’s few things that are as great as seeing fellow fright fans embrace their love for the genre and apply it to their other passions. Sometimes, that fandom begets filmmakers, who seek to become the next George Romero or John Carpenter. Sometimes, that fandom produces musicians, who apply their love for horror in the aesthetics of their art and lyrics of their songs. And in times like this, those influences combine to create something truly unique and fear-film-friendly.
