“LOST TAPES” To Remain So; Newly Titled “AMITYVILLE” Opens January 2015

Earlier this year, FANGORIA reported THE AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES was “dead”, from a reliable source. Recently however, the validity of the claim was under fire after producer Jason Blum himself revealed the project was “still going.” “We’re going to make that movie and it’s very cool. But I don’t quite know when yet,” he said. Now we do: Blumhouse and Dimension’s AMITYVILLE will open January 2, 2015.

The young A24 Films has established an exciting taste in the pictures they’re releasing. 2013 alone saw Harmony Korine’s electrifying, outlandish SPRING BREAKERS, as well as fantastic coming-of-age story THE SPECTACULAR NOW, while 2014 will bring the studio’s feet into genre with the release of two, intriguing and acclaimed titles picked up out of last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival: Jonathan Glazer’s UNDER THE SKIN and Dennis Villenueve’s Jake Gyllenhaal-starring doppelgänger saga, ENEMY.

LA! Arnold’s “END OF DAYS” Screening w/ Kevin Pollak this weekend

I wish END OF DAYS was a really good movie, and not just a goofy movie I really like. But there it is, and I’m sure I’m not alone. The list really goes on. Now, fourteen years from outdating itself, but no less entertaining or deserving of a December watch, the film is screening in 35MM at Los Angeles’ famed New Beverly theater with Pollak scheduled to attend!
