  • “DARLING” (Scary Movies Review)

    ,,,

When I was 24, I spent a month housesitting a mansion in Flatbush, Brooklyn. I was a young single girl, and despite having lived in or around New York most of my life, I had never really done so alone. The house spoke; it creaked and groaned with the cold. One night I couldn’t sleep, and I found myself curiously testing out the grand piano in the foyer at 3 a.m. The keys were dusty and the notes flat and mournfully out of tune—I felt a chill run through me.

  • Exclusive Clip, Q&A: Dylan Greenberg’s D.I.Y. “DARK PRISM”

    ,

There have been many exceptional fright filmmakers to come out of the Troma camp, whether it be James Gunn, Eli Roth, Joe Lynch, Trent Haaga and more. And while the shlocky masters of bloody, splattery satire continue to make their mark on the genre community, their work has inspired myriad others to pick up a camera and establish their own visceral cinematic voice. Filmmaker Dylan Greenberg is certainly one of the most-inspired members of the Troma team, and with her third feature now finished at the age of 18, Greenberg has given FANGORIA an exclusive clip and comments on her latest horror offering, DARK PRISM

  • “FREAKS OF NATURE” (Movie Review)

    ,,

Catching even genre fans off guard with its presence in theaters, FREAKS OF NATURE is in fact the vampires-meet-zombies-meet-aliens mashup filmed in 2013 as (the aptly titled) KITCHEN SINK. Now, after several nationwide-release date changes/delays, it has been abruptly retitled and dumped into token runs by Columbia Pictures (which didn’t even bother to print up a poster for the multiplex where this reviewer shared the prime opening-night show with maybe half a dozen people).

  • NYCC ’15 Video Q&A: Producers Rand Ravich & Howard Gordon talk “LOOKINGLASS”

    ,

Alongside the more genre-friendly LUCIFER and THE X-FILES, LOOKINGLASS looks to bring the hard-hitting action to sci-fi fans this upcoming year on FOX as they mix an old school detective story with an older school horror inspiration. Yet LOOKINGLASS is more than just star Rob Kazinsky playing a rejuvenated and supernaturally-abled badass avenging his own death; there’s also a bigger and more complicated story at hand, touching on subjects based out of controversial sciences and social commentary. Thankfully, FANGORIA was able to talk to producers Rand Ravich and Howard Gordon at New York Comic Con 2015 to shed some light on this Frankenstein story…

LOOKINGLASS will debut on FOX in 2016. Stay tuned here at FANGORIA.com for on New York Comic Con and LOOKINGLASS!
