  • Q&A: “CURSE OF CHUCKY” Writer/Director Don Mancini

    ,,

Quite a bit of time has passed since we last saw our favorite killer Good Guy doll in action. In SEED OF CHUCKY, writer/director/series creator Don Mancini’s directorial debut, Chucky was a proud father trying to teach his long-lost child the ways of the knife. After that film came and went, things were quiet on the CHILD’S PLAY franchise front—although typically (and to the chagrin of many), there was very real talk of a potential remake that luckily turned out to be a false alarm. Now Mancini has returned with the latest entry in the franchise, CURSE OF CHUCKY.

  • “CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES: THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF FRIDAY THE 13TH” (Blu-ray/DVD Review)

    ,,

It’s taking a valiant effort to keep this review from degenerating into a tirade against big studios Paramount and Warner Brothers, specifically their lack of consideration shown to horror fans with each successive release of the FRIDAY THE 13TH films to the home market. Let’s leave it to stating the fact that in the Paramount boardrooms, their FRIDAY movies were once considered something akin to trading in blood diamonds—meaning an investment addictively profitable but morally reprehensible.

  • Q&A: Director Jacob Vaughan on Good Puppetry and “BAD MILO”

    ,,

In BAD MILO, director Jacob Vaughan implicitly understands that our highest enjoyment of this tale of the titular intestinal demon and the havoc he wreaks would come with strings—or rods—attached. That is to say, BAD MILO works on a level of madcap horror/comedy thanks to all of the arguments we’ve seen in support of old school practical FX. Milo the demon is there, and so are his puppeteers Frank Langley and Bob Mano, bringing him in and out of Ken Marino’s butt to alternately bite dicks and cuddle close. FANGORIA spoke with Vaughan about the process of bringing Bad, and Good, Milo to life.

  • “GODZILLA” Concept Teaser is reminded of Hindu Scripture

    ,

The immortal classic GOJIRA saw the King of the Monsters born out of the devastation of atomic attack on Japan. As we greatly anticipate the upcoming iteration from Gareth Edwards and seeming rebirth of the most iconic of movie monsters, the initial, fantastic concept teaser shown at SDCC in 2012 is reminiscent of those roots, recalling theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer’s words about witnessing the first detonation of a nuclear device in 1945.
