  • Event Report: Dalton Dale’s “THE UNINVITED: AN IMMERSIVE HAUNTED HOUSE”

    ,

Last week, this reporter had the pleasure of checking out THE UNINVITED: AN IMMERSIVE HAUNTED HOUSE, and what a trip that was! THE UNINVITED: AN IMMERSIVE HAUNTED HOUSE is set in a basement in Harlem, NY, created by Dalton Dale and his partner at Hoodwinked Escape Room. A huge attraction that blindsided New York’s haunt scene, I don’t think anyone saw THE UNINVITED coming, but lucky us that we can now check it out.

  • FANGORIA’s Comic Expert Svetlana Fedotov Remembers Steve Dillon (1962 – 2016)

    ,

There are few creators who can be recognized on their artistic style alone, and there are even fewer whose personal style helped mold some of the biggest works in their industry. Steve Dillon did both. Famously known for co-creating PREACHER, Dillon’s contributions to the world of comics has helped move the medium from throwaway entertainment to the endless potential that it is today. Along with his collaborative partner Garth “The Menace” Ennis, Dillon and Co. reworked THE PUNISHER and HELLBLAZER, while personally contributing to ANIMAL MAN, JUDGE DREDD, X-MEN, and others. That being said, it’s no surprise that with his passing this past Saturday, bothth comic and art fans have raised a toast to the legendary giant in remembrance of Dillon.

  • Event Report: “TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE” Live at Lincoln Center!

    ,,

As any New Yorker can tell you, a 70-degree night in the middle of October is a fairly strange occurrence. But perhaps the peculiarly warm weather was fitting for a night such as October 20th, in which the good folks at Glass Eye Pix would be taking their eerie brand of radio plays to Lincoln Center for another live edition of TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE. Yet even beyond a showcase for the varying degrees of audio terror that can come from the minds of filmmakers Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid, TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE is such a special experience because it truly feels communal, with horror enthusiasts gathering en masse to witness the petrifying proceedings.

  • Event Report: The Immersive Nyctophobia Horror Attraction!

    ,

Nyctophobia is one of the best ways to spook oneself during October, and it has been one of this writer’s favorite Halloween traditions since 2011. If this year’s walkthrough is any indication, Nyctophobia will probably remain that way until I die. This pop up art house styled Halloween experience has evolved since its first year, but this writer must admit, 2016 was the best it has ever been.

  • Fantastic Fest 2016: Dylan Reiff & Landon Zakheim talk Bottleneck Immersive

    ,,

Fantastic Fest in Austin brings not just a wealth of great programming and revered guests, but also perhaps more extracurricular activities for attendees than any other film festival. A new addition this year was the transformation of one of the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar’s karaoke rooms into a horror-themed escape room called SATANIC PANIC. After a motley group of us drunkenly attempted (and failed) to solve all of the Dark Lord’s fiendish puzzles, FANGORIA sat down with designers Dylan Reiff and Landon Zakheim to discuss escape rooms, immersive games, inimitable experiences, and the founding of their new company, Bottleneck Immersive.
