Canada to learn “THE ABCs OF DEATH”

ABCSOFDEATHDISCNEW

Canadian horror fans, do you know your ABCs? If not, then you’re in luck, as Video Services Corp (VSC) has picked up cult anthology sensation THE ABCs OF DEATH. The film, releasing on DVD/Blu-ray from Magnet Releasing in the U.S. on Tuesday, will be screening in 25 Cineplex theaters in Canada on Thursday, May 23 as part of the chain’s Sinister Cinema series, and will be preceded by a run at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver.

THE ABCs OF DEATH features 26 short films from over 26 filmmakers, with each segment revolving around a letter of the alphabet and a corresponding way to die with each letter. The film, produced by Ant Timpson and Tim League, features contributions from Adam Wingard (YOU’RE NEXT), Jake West (EVIL ALIENS), Ti West (THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL), Marcel Sarmiento (DEADGIRL), Jason Eisener (HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN), Ben Wheatley (SIGHTSEERS) and Nacho Vigalondo (TIMECRIMES), to name a few. The segments are as varied as they are insane, featuring animation, claymation, comedy and, of course, horror, as the directors were given complete creative freedom with their entries.

“We’re excited to have our first of hopefully many films included in the Sinister Cinema program,” says VSC president Jonathan Gross. “We’re confident that THE ABCs OF DEATH will satisfy genre fans, and we’re thrilled to have this opportunity to bring the film to fans across the country.”

From this writer’s perspective, THE ABCs OF DEATH is truly worth the theatrical experience, as there is some stunning, jaw-dropping madness on display throughout each diverse segment. Furthermore, director Kaare Andrews (ALTITUDE) will be in attendance at the May 23 screening at the Cineplex International Village in Vancouver. Don’t wait, as tickets are available for purchase now at participating theater box offices, as well as online here. For a complete list of participating theaters, go here.
