,

Everyone’s favorite Deadite-slayer is coming back on the small screen, and the people fighting alongside him have been announced today.

Starz has revealed that Ray Santiago (above left) and Dana DeLorenzo (above right) will join Bruce Campbell in ASH VS. EVIL DEAD, the TV-series follow-up to the classic feature films that rolls in New Zealand this spring and will premiere on the network later this year. Santiago will play Pablo Simon Bolivar and DeLorenzo will be Kelly Maxwell, and according to the official announcement, “Pablo Simon Bolivar is an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick—a Sancho Panza to Ash’s Don Quixote. Pablo believes in Ash’s heroism even if Ash himself doesn’t. Kelly Maxwell is a moody wild child trying to outrun her past. Reluctantly dragged into the fight against evil with Ash and Pablo, Kelly finds a different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers.” Santiago’s many film and TV credits include the recently released SUBURBAN GOTHIC, while DeLorenzo has been seen in movies like THE MOLE MAN OF BELMONT AVENUE and A VERY HAROLD AND KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS.

Sam Raimi will direct the first installment of the 10-episode show, which he wrote with his brother Ivan, Craig DiGregorio and Tom Spezialy. Sam will also serve as an executive producer along with his longtime cohorts Campbell and Rob Tapert, with DiGregorio as executive producer/showrunner, Ivan Raimi co-executive producing and Aaron Lam producing. According to the official synopsis, “Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons–personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its ‘Evil’ grip.” Look for more on ASH VS. EVIL DEAD as we find it out!
