A pair of found-footage veterans are taking the helm of INTRUDERS, an original series for BBC Worldwide Productions that has also signed a lead actor.
The eight-part INTRUDERS, based on the novel of the same title by Michael Marshall Smith, will by directed by Eduardo Sanchez of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, LONELY MOLLY and V/H/S/2 and Daniel Stamm of THE LAST EXORCISM and the upcoming 13 SINS. John Simm (pictured above), whose many British TV credits include playing The Master on DOCTOR WHO, will topline as Jack Whelan, a Los Angeles cop turned writer who thinks he has escaped his violent past until his wife Amy goes missing, and the investigation forces him to confront his previous sins. THE X FILES’ Glen Morgan scripted and serves as executive producer, and Simm says, “After reading Glen Morgan’s brilliant script, I knew I couldn’t pass up the chance to play this complex character. It is also a great opportunity to reunite with Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, and with BBC America.”
“I am thrilled to be working with John Simm, one of the UK’s most exciting talents, on the realization of Michael Marshall Smith’s novel,” Morgan says. “The BBC has always broken new ground in this genre and I look forward to playing a part in that tradition. Together with directors Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Stamm, we plan to put a whole new spin on creepy.”
