“BLAIR WITCH” Director & Blumhouse Team for “SEVENFOLD”

Starting his career with one of the highest-grossing independent films of all time, director Eduardo Sanchez has largely been able to escape the shadow of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT with a resume of impressive genre projects over the past 20 years. And while Sanchez remains busy in horror, directing episodes of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES and INTRUDERS amidst the perpetually swirling rumors of a third BLAIR WITCH film, Deadline broke news over the weekend that Sanchez is teaming with Blumhouse Productions for his next project, entitled SEVENFOLD.

While story details are being kept tightly under wraps, Sanchez is reteaming with LOVELY MOLLY/ EXISTS producers Mark Ordesky, Gregg Hale (who co-directed Sanchez’s V/H/S/2 segment) and Jane Fleming for SEVENFOLD, which is being described as a micro-budgeted feature. While Sanchez and Blumhouse are both notable for their found footage efforts, one wonders if the time of the found footage feature has passed for both parties, especially in regards to this project. Only time will tell; stay tuned for more on SEVENFOLD as it becomes available. And for those interested in seeing Sanchez on the other side of the camera, be sure to check out his appearance in Mark Ricche & Christian Stavrakis’ MORTAL REMAINS, which screens next month at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2016!
