Back to the Further! Creepy, colorful “INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2″ trailer is here

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 looks to build on the classical, haunting nature of the first, right into weird and unsettling territory.

Last night, following a trailer premiere for press and fans, INSIDIOUS director James Wan took part in a Q&A that eventually began peeling away layers of the upcoming sequel to his often properly frightening haunted house film. Coy comments included talk of time travel and a twist on domestic thrillers. Now, the actual preview is here and it reveals what looks like a colorful odyssey of spookiness. There’s expected, elegant frights of specters appearing and disappearing, but also the aggressive nature of “He’s got your baby!” (you’ll see). What’s possibly most exciting though is the color on hand. The further is, of course, a fog filled atmosphere, but even just the neat wide shot of Rose Byrne in flowing ensemble, standing in the middle of  a colorful, lavish living room looks straight out of Bava. That’s not to mention the wonderful looking, dice rolling séance.

The film, starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 is out Friday, September 13. [iTunes]

I love the first one, probably the most scared I have ever been in a movie theater. Not sure how I feel about this one, I will be watching it though!
