A single take of terror in new “GRAVITY” trailer

At San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, world class director Alfonso Cuarón (CHILDREN OF MEN) apparently revealed he’d like to set his sights on a horror movie next. Funny, considering this extended sequence from his upcoming technologically innovative deep space thriller GRAVITY may end up one of the most tense and horrifying things this year.

Q&A: Kristina Buozyte on surreal, psychosexual “VANISHING WAVES”

VANISHING WAVES imagines something intense: A neural connection, a relationship forged entirely inside the mind of someone who’s retreated entirely from trauma and the world at large. There, thanks to stunning scientific progression, a surreal, incredibly sexual and weirdly violent landscape awaits. It makes for a haunting, beautiful headtrip in Lithuanian filmmaker Kristina Buozyte’s second feature, now arriving on DVD from thrilling new distributor Artsploitation Films.

    [SDCC '13] Sam’s Comic-Con Highlights!

This year in San Diego, for one glorious hour or so, I lived in a Mario Bava movie. That’s how it felt, at least, and that was the best. How appropriate I was determined to only drink wine that evening. That was Thursday, the day one that feels like day two of Comic-Con. Each morning, I walked past an ever growing line of con-goers and curious residents alike, awaiting entrance into “Dracula’s Crypt.” I assume this is what played inside.

[SDCC '13] Scream Factory releasing “NIGHTBREED: THE CABAL CUT” & more!

Shout! Factory’s boutique genre label has been big news this past year. Young, but adoring to cult classics and hidden gems ignored by good home video release, they’ve already unleashed proper editions of HALLOWEEN II & III, DEADLY BLESSING, THE FOG and THE NEST with titles like INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN and PRINCE OF DARKNESS on the way. Today, they’ve come to Comic-Con to celebrate their mission and announce something very, very big.

[SDCC '13] Restricted “RIDDICK” Trailer, EXCL Director Comments

Where CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK was an expansive, large scaled sequel, the third film in the series seems all about simplicity. Simple title, simple game and poised to very much to appeal to fans of David Twohy’s original PITCH BLACK. Reflected in both the latest, bloody preview as well as a chat with Fango here in San Diego, the filmmaker explains the film is “very effective in that very lean, tough R-rated way. A little grittier, a little bloodier.”
