  • Stream to Scream: “REGRESSION”

    ,,

Alejandro Amenabar’s REGRESSION feels as if it’s a horror offering lost in time. Had this film been conceived, made and released in the ‘90s, the time period in which the film takes place, REGRESSION could have really been an eerie, unsettling film. However, in a post-SIXTH SENSE, post-SESSION 9 genre film landscape, REGRESSION’s bookending chapters weigh down an otherwise terrifying film; a Polanski-esque thriller that plays around with interesting concepts before tearing them asunder in favor for ultra-realism.

  • “JAWS” Sequels Officially Slated for Blu-ray!

    ,

Let’s be frank here: there’s no JAWS sequel that’s anywhere near the original masterpiece in terms of quality, and we’re not going to be the ones to argue that. However, the somewhat complicated relationship between horror fans and the JAWS sequels is one worth examining, especially considering how its evolved over the years. JAWS 2 is a particularly underrated film, JAWS 3 shouldn’t be completely written-off in spite of its flaws, and JAWS: THE REVENGE is a pretty terrible film horror fans keep going back to no matter how many times it hurts us. And if you’re a fan of the JAWS franchise as a whole, we’ve got some good news as Universal has officially (and finally) slated all three JAWS sequels for Blu-ray!

  • Scream Factory Reveals Features, Release Date for 2-Disc “RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD” Blu-ray!

    ,

An ’80s zombie movie that features bumbling supply warehouse employees, punk rock teenagers, a selfless coroner, a nude striptease, meta-humor, buckets of blood and a skeletal corpse kept together by corroded flesh; there simply isn’t anything like RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. • Deaditorial: Negan, The Governor and “THE WALKING DEAD”‘s Villain Problem

    ,,

THE WALKING DEAD set the stage for perhaps one of the most devastating episodes of horror television to date. Maggie, one of the most sympathetic characters of the show, was near death, with a pregnancy complication jeopardizing the lives of herself and her unborn child. The otherwise confident, selfless leader that is Rick Grimes was left a sweaty, shaken mess, humbled and emotionally compromised by an underestimated force. And almost every character had a “two days ‘till retirement” moment that would make their death bittersweet: Eugene’s Map, Abraham and Sascha’s decision to settle down, Carl’s armory chat with Enid, etc.
