“GHOSTBUSTERS” Reboot Adds Cast, Release Date

Is there any franchise that’s taken such a long, strange road as GHOSTBUSTERS? One of the most celebrated genre titles of all time, the film was followed by a milquetoast sequel, a tons of successful merchandise, a theme park attraction, an animated series, an official video game (with saw all cast members returning), a languishing third entry and, now, a full-on property reboot with all-female leads from the director of BRIDESMAIDS. And while that last bit has been an unfortunate topic of controversy among horror fans, it seems that all the bitching and cynicism in the world isn’t going to keep the new GHOSTBUSTERS from coming out, with Paul Feig himself tweeting the cast and release date.

Release Date Shuffle: “PARANORMAL”, “FRIDAY THE 13TH”, “RINGS”

You know, it’s never really truly 2015 until dates for horror films set months in advance are inexplicably pulled out from under us. However, while sometimes such a move will leave a film in limbo (KRISTY, AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING, 7500), at least the most recent batch, initially reported by The Wrap, have given fright fans the courtesy of a new release date that will undoubtedly never be shifted again.

“THE STRANGERS” Will Return; New Director Lined up

Considering its massive box office success and its generally universal acclaim from horror fans and critics alike, it has always been somewhat of a surprise that THE STRANGERS has never had a sequel. After all, it wasn’t like there was no interest behind the scenes, as director Bryan Bertino had often talked about the grisly places his masked murderers could go. Yet the pieces never came together, for whatever reason, until now, as The Wrap reports THE STRANGERS 2 is definitely a-go.

For Your Consideration: The Best Wide Release Horror Film Nominees of 2014!

With voting season now open on the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards, fans are putting their minds at work to select their favorites out of every potential nominee. However, judging by our FANGORIA Facebook feedback, there weren’t many fans of the 2014 studio releases this year, especially compared to the stellar roster in 2013. And considering that the amount of theaters needed to justify a wide release was 600+, that meant our pool of horror nominees was slim, and even slimmer when looking for quality among the bunch. However, we were able to cull together five nominees who were just a cut above the rest, and now, we’d like to take a minute to shed a light upon them.
