    FANGORIA wins Rondo Award for “Best Themed Issue”!

    FANGORIA has been named the winner of the Best Themed Issue Rondo Hatton Award for Fango #328, focusing on the legendary Roger Corman and his approach to directing. Corman’s wife, muse and business partner Julie was also featured in the magazine, discussing her lengthy career as a producer, and photographer Ama Lea handled the creative original images for the cover, inside features and pull-out centerfold poster.

    Horror Hero Dr. Mikel Koven Brings Terror to the Toronto Jewish Film Festival

    Dr. Mikel Koven is a fascinating fellow. Born in Toronto and based in the UK, Dr. Koven has made the academic study of horror and dark fantasy films his life’s work, penning such badass books as 2010’s BLAXPLOITATION FILMS, a thorough study of the vital exploitation subgenre and 2006’s LA DOLCE MORTE, reflection and analysis of the giallo film. He teaches, lectures, provides research for such hit supernatural programs as HBO’s TRUE BLOOD, and he serves as the President of the International Society of Contemporary Legend.

    Toronto, lend us your eyes! FANGORIA contributor John Nicol is hosting something creepy and cool in the west-end of Toronto with the first annual “COME TO DADDY: HORROR SHORTS SOIREE.” The event, which takse place on Saturday, July 26th at 3030 Dundas West, promises to be a boisterous, bloody blend of frightening film screenings, ample craft beer spillage, good food and eventually, as the night wears on, a full blown post-screening dance party.

    EXCL: Swedish Label Last Exit Entertainment to Release Iskanov’s “NAILS” and More

    Catering to connoisseurs of weird cinema everywhere, fledgling Sweden-based cult film imprint Last Exit Entertainment has recently launched with a mandate to bring everything from Russian mindbenders to German nihilistic gorefests to DVD. The good lads at LAST EXIT were kind enough to reveal what will be their first title, Andrey Iskanov’s debut feature NAILS [Gvozdi]. Iskanov himself will provide an introduction to the film and this special edition will also include a number of extra features and a bonus CD containing the soundtrack.
