Astron-6 team tap Kier, Risk for “THE EDITOR”Movies/TV,News Ken W. Hanley 2 Comments
After the well-received FATHER’S DAY and MANBORG showcased their unique brand of retro ridiculousness, the Canadian filmmaking collective Astron-6 have been branching out all over the genre world: Steven Kostanski has a segment in ABCs OF DEATH 2 and Jeremy Gillespie has made his way into the world of Hollywood art direction, while Adam Brooks, Matt Kennedy and Conor Sweeney have cast up their newest film, THE EDITOR.
Partially funded via Indiegogo and directed by Kennedy and Brooks, THE EDITOR has been described as the group’s comical love letter to Italian giallo cinema. The camp factor was wildly high in the gang’s previous efforts, so it will be interesting to see how far they take the colorful, bloodsoaked Italian subgenre. As with their previous endeavors, the film will star Brooks, Kennedy and Sweeney, with Brooks playing the titular character, described as “a stressed-out and overworked six-fingered film editor whose life is thrown into turmoil as a body count rises in the film studio he works for.” THE EDITOR will also feature genre legend Udo Kier and AMERICAN MARY actress Tristan Risk, although their roles are as-of-yet unspecified, and ENTER THE VOID’s Paz de la Huerta (who will also be seen next February in NURSE 3D) is currently in talks to join the film in a small role.
Originally planned for a filming date in August (an image from a initial shoot last year is seen above), THE EDITOR is still in preproduction, but looks to begin lensing soon as casting is finalized. Keep an eye here for more developments.
