Astron-6 awarded funds from Telefilm Canada for “THE EDITOR”

Launched last June, Telefilm Canada has announced the finalists in their first Micro Budget Production Program and some of the genre’s most buzzed up-and-comers are among the recipients.

Having exploded into the cult community with a mass of shorts and ludicrous, squalid, violent features like FATHER’S DAY and MANBORG, Canada’s collective Astron-6 is undoubtedly on the rise. Now, they’ve garnered government attention in the aforementioned program that aims to “support new filmmakers seeking to produce their first feature-length films, with special emphasis on digital-media production and marketing methods.”

One of eight finalists, Astron-6’s Matthew Kennedy and Adam Brooks will helm THE EDITOR, which regular Astron actress Meredith Sweeney previously told FANGORIA, is “70s Italian-style horror movie about a movie editor.” Keep an eye on Fango for more as the film develops.
