Anthony Perkins’ son to helm chiller “FEBRUARY”; Roberts and Shipka cast

,

Osgood Perkins, son of PSYCHO star Anthony, is carrying on the family tradition by writing and directing the horror-thriller FEBRUARY, for which the two young leads have just been cast.

Highland Film Group has announced that AMERICAN HORROR STORY’s Emma Roberts (pictured above) and MAD MEN’s Kiernan Shipka will star in FEBRUARY, which will be introduced to buyers at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival. The film is being produced by Unbroken Pictures’ Adrienne Biddle and Bryan Bertino (scripter/director of THE STRANGERS) and Rob Paris’ Paris Film, Inc., which backed Joe Lynch’s upcoming EVERLY. The official synopsis: “In FEBRUARY, beautiful and haunted Joan makes a bloody and determined pilgrimage across a frozen landscape toward a prestigious all-girls prep school, where Rose and Kat find themselves stranded after their parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break. As Joan gets closer, terrifying visions begin plaguing Kat while Rose watches in horror as she becomes possessed by an unseen evil force.”

“We look forward to bringing Osgood’s tantalizing story to life while keeping audiences riveted with suspense,” producers Bertino, Biddle and Paris say in a statement. Highland Film Group’s Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier add, “Having these two brilliant young actresses as a part of the team will no doubt translate with our buyers and audiences worldwide.” Perkins previously appeared as young Norman Bates in PSYCHO II and co-starred in DEAD & BREAKFAST, and co-scripted this year’s thriller COLD COMES THE NIGHT; Roberts also starred in SCREAM 4, while Shipka has been seen in CARRIERS and the televersion of FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC.
