Anne Rice’s “VAMPIRE CHRONICLES” Acquired by Universal

Universal, Imagine Entertainment and omnipresent producing/writing team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orice are planning new cinematic adaptations of Anne Rice’s popular series of novels known as “The Vampire Chronicles.”

Featuring famous works like INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, THE VAMPIRE LESTAT, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED and more, the “Chronicles” are a bestselling series of Gothic horror. Two of the novels were previously adapted into 1994’s INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and 2002’s QUEEN OF THE DAMNED. The Wrap is reporting Universal has acquired the rights to the entire series (including future novels) for Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Kurtzman/Orci to produce, but no firm plans for adaptation are available at this time.

Reboot/remake/brand recognition culture dictates we should expect an INTERVIEW remake out of this. Surely, more to come.
