Alex Aja’s Adaptation of Joe Hill’s “HORNS” is out this Halloween; New Teaser PosterNews Samuel Zimmerman
Though a teaser poster and trailer hit earlier this week for the curious, highly anticipated adaptation of Joe Hill’s fantastic novel HORNS, both were in anticipation of the film’s UK release this fall. When will the film arrive in the U.S., then?
Premiering the U.S. teaser poster, Shock Till You Drop revealed Radius-TWC will release HORNS as a Halloween treat this Friday, October 31. Directed by Alexandre Aja (HIGH TENSION), the film stars Daniel Radcliffe (HARRY POTTER, THE WOMAN IN BLACK) as Ig Perrish, a young man ruined after his girlfriend, Merrin (Juno Temple) is murdered and the majority of his hometown believes he did it. In the aftermath of the ordeal, Ig awakes one morning with a pair of horns on his head, which gives him a curious hold over those he encounters. Throughout the novel, Ig uses the new power to investigate Merrin’s death and the result was a neat piece of work, a sort of alternately darkly funny and brutal horror fantasy.
HORNS premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, where reaction was divisive and seemed to indicate the tone was appropriately strange and worthy of Hill’s book. You can see the previous UK teaser trailer, below. Expect more out of next week’s San Diego Comic-Con.
