Adrián García Bogliano’s “HERE COMES THE DEVIL” out this DecemberMovies/TV,News Samuel Zimmerman
The fantastic, strange and unsettling HERE COMES THE DEVIL, from COLD SWEAT and PENUMBRA director Adrián García Bogliano, was picked up by Magnolia Pictures/Magnet Releasing out of Fantastic Fest 2012. With little word since, it’s exciting to see the film finally has a release date.
A surreal, evil journey that feels a lo-fi Nic Roeg in Mexico, HERE COMES THE DEVIL follows “parents Felix and Sol whose preteen son and daughter inexplicably reappear after being lost overnight on a desolate, cave-riddled mountainside after a casual hike became every parent’s nightmare. The good luck and good fortune of their return soon changes, as the children’s behavior suggests ominous and unspeakable events the night the children were lost that continue even now. As a loving couple – and loving parents – try to care for and protect their children, the ancient and half-whispered legends around the caves and the mountain and those who have gone there before become too strange to believe … and too dangerous, no matter how insane, to ignore.”
Bogliano is fast proving a unique genre voice, with HERE COMES THE DEVIL his best yet. While the Magnet Releasing site has updated their “Coming Soon” with, “In Theaters December 13,” there’s no word for their standard pre-cinemas VOD Date yet. Keep an eye on Fango for much more.
