  • Darren Lynn Bousman talks raising hell with “TALES OF HALLOWEEN”

    ,

Among the many and varied minimovies in TALES OF HALLOWEEN (out today in theaters, on VOD and iTunes from Epic Pictures, and reviewed here), Darren Lynn Bousman’s “The Night Billy Raised Hell” crams perhaps the most mayhem into its brief running time. But as Bousman tells FANGORIA, for all the insanity the segment spotlights, the inspiration behind it was rather conservative.

  • Event Report: “ALLELUIA! THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL” Roadshow in NYC!

    ,,

Make no mistake: fans of THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL are the real deal. Arriving nearly an hour before doors were supposed to open, I discovered a line that went around a building and, knowing that reaching the box office would be a futile effort, found a spot among the crowd. About 15 minutes later, the line pulled around the corner, revealing an even longer line in the pit near the entrance of the Beekman theater. Fans were in costume, many more adorning DEVIL’S CARNIVAL apparel and all of whom seemed to be buzzing with excitement.

  • Event Report: “ALLELUIA! THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL” World Premiere

    ,

ALLELUIA! THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL is not your average film, so it was only fitting that the visual spectacle that is set to a grandiose rock ‘n’ roll score should have an unusual setting for it’s premiere. The Egyptian theatre was transformed into an ominous fairground that transported guests into the fantastical world that Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW II) and Terrance Zdunich have created. The two have collaborated previously on 2008’s REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA and 2012’s THE DEVIL”S CARNIVAL and in the process have obtained a cult following which was evident by the enthusiastic crowd that turned up to feast their eyes on the duo’s latest installment. Guests were serenaded by a rag tag bunch of carnival folk playing washboards, fiddles and kazoos as knife eating vixens and creepy carnie folk wandered the grounds, all part of the experience when it comes to a Zdunich/Bousman production.

  • Return To “THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL,” See The Trailer for “ALLELUIA”

In 2012, director Darren Lynn Bousman and his REPO! writer Terrance Zdunich embarked on a truly admirable indie endeavor. In crafting a 55-minute horror musical entitled THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL, the two then took their show on the road, adopting a traveling self-distribution model that boasted the film, live performances, intimate Q&As and more. Bousman and Zdunich had amassed a devoted cult with their first scaresong (THE GENETIC OPERA) and here, they were bringing the art directly to them. No surprise then, what seemed to be so fulfilling has garnered another go.
