RAPPED & TAGGED: NECRO speaks!

FANGORIA MUSICK - NEWS

NECROIn a FANGORIA MUSICK EXCLUSIVE, Matt Molgaard tracks down legendary Brooklyn rapper NECRO to discuss his unique brand of DEATH RAP; his plans for the corpse of Michael Jackson; his distain for the world of "horrorcore"; and the fright films that continue to inspire.

Read on for the interview in this installment of RAPPED & TAGGED...

necro1Matt Molgaard/Fangoria:
First off Necro, let's talk about some of the things that have inspired you throughout your career, whether it be music, movies - fact or fiction, what helps fuel you as an artist?

Necro: Dead cadaver, that's the biggest influence hands down, rotted corpse covered in mucus, especially if its a cop's body, that adds to the pleasure.

Fango: You've enjoyed quite a bit of success throughout the years. Have you found it to be a bigger battle to obtain that success because you cater to fans of the horrorcore sub-genre of rap, which some feel is a fading form of the craft?

Necro: I don’t rap [horrorcore] or cater to horrorcore, that genre title is for faggots... those kids listen to garbage. I make real hip-hop that happens to be brutal, so I touch on many subjects. Life and death, gore, violence, porn, sex, thug life, the streets. Necro is way more than one thing, and when I rap brutal I created the term called DEATH RAP to describe my style of super violent lyrics, which are inspired by a huge spectrum like hemoglobin splattered on Bob Ross' filthy canvas as well as his afro.

Fango: The name Necro has become practically synonymous with shock value. Was that always your goal, or is that just the uncut mind of Necro - no strings of any form attached?

Necro: My music is shocking because its actually good, like "WOW this shit is hot, so much hiphop sucks and this guy Necro is doing it, its hardcore, raw, awesome beats", so people are shocked cuz they thought hiphop was totally dead, but it remains alive through me. So shock is great to call my music, like being hooked up to 1,000 volts through ya nipples, but nothing I say should shock someone to where they are surprised, because it's all life and goes on everyday... anyone shocked that way is a fucking pussy and should crawl back into their box or under their rock and wait for locusts to eat them.

necro2

Fango: Any goals you've got that at this point you have not yet accomplished?

Necro: Yes, I wanna dig up MJ's corpse and sell it to an Arab Sheik in Dubai, I have an offer for it over there and I am working out the logistics, I can make 45 million for the job.

Fango: I know you've got a new album due out early next year. What can you tell me about the album?

Necro: It's called "DIE!" and it will be the most rugged brutal original hiphop album of 2010, expect insanity as usual.

Fango: Do you have a precise release date yet?

Necro: January/Feb 2010 is the tentative, as we get close I will lock down the exact date.

Fango: How about touring information - any dates lined up (yet) to promote this upcoming release?

Necro: No dates yet, I just finished Rock The Bells so I am recovering from that, resting my voice, focusing on this new album as a priority.

Fango: Let's switch gears a little bit and talk about movies for a few. There's a lot of new flicks coming out in the next couple months; a new HALLOWEEN movie, a new FINAL DESTINATION flick, DISTRICT 9 and THE COLLECTOR were just recently released. Anything you've seen lately that's impressed you, or for the matter - anything you're looking forward to?

Necro: DISTRICT 9 was amazing, the whole concept was bile, enjoyed that alot. THE FINAL DESTINATIONs are always cool. SAW 6 should be dope, HALLOWEEN is ok. I want another HILLS HAVE EYES like the first remake, another TEXAS CHAIN [SAW MASSACRE] like the one where Leatherface works his job. That was sick!

Best thing I have seen recently was DISTRICT 9 though, that was bile.

We need some original horrors, nothing is coming out that’s original, give me HIGH TENSION 2, that was sick.

Fango: Tell me, your opinion: best horror movie of all time?

Necro: BLOOD SUCKING FREAKS.

Fango: How about albums - best horror album of all time?

Necro: What the fuck is a horror album?? That sounds gay, it's definitely not rap is it?? When I think of horror record, I think of Boris Karloff on those old horror records. Best brutal violent horror-like record is my DEATH RAP album, that's the best record put together technically for evil shit. I rap the Manson murders on one track, I rap an autopsy on another, I rap brutal mechanical style electric style, I flipped many different flows on that, but its not a horror record, its a super brutal evil hardcore maybe with some horror in it.

We need a better term for shit, DEATH RAP is my term, but super violent hiphop is better than anything. That isn’t respected - the mainstream shits on the term horror when you mix it with hiphop, when the biggest movies sometimes are horror movies - can't explain it. But that fag Russell Simmons seemed to have coined the term then he went on to suck a man's dick, so I'm disgusted, just leave it alone and realize, I am NECRO The Godfather of the GORE genre. DIE!

Fango: Anything you'd like to say those fans who have continued to follow you through the years?

Necro: I love you all, support the kid, go to my websites

Necro is not Horrorcore. Sorry to have to break it to you dumbasses, but plenty of classic golden age MCs have delved into Ultra-Violent lyrics, take a listen to Devil's Son by Big L. Necro just took it a bit farther, but he does have other topics that he raps about - Sex and Drugs for example. I would call Necro no more Horrorcore than RZA is for doing the Gravediggaz project.

Did I just read this correctly? YOU invented Death Rap?

    HA

I had death rap on lock while you were still on Gory Days my friend. No John Tardy necessary! But then again you take a standard hip hop beat and throw a death metal singer on the hook and call it "death rap" See I dont do it that way. Actually I have followed you a second and even own a few albums but I can't get over this "holier then thou" attitude you have, and how are you gonna shit all over underground horrorcore artist and fans and act like your too good to hang out where they hang and be associated with them?

Thats right you don't care though......Because your "base" is independant of any of these people you just shit on.

And whatever happened to "I dont give interviews" lol My hat is off to ya Matt for getting him to do it but hey one would have to be an idiot to not want a fangoria interview!

  • Tha Reaper  - Sorry killa...

But I have to disagree with all your points..

Death rap wasn't made by necro.. maybe made famous by him in some way but look to a artist called Ressurrector if you want to see how it was done right.. no offense to necro but to claim something which has roots in the underground then shit all over it is pretty messed up in my honest opinion...

then again...at least it isn't satancore bs which is polluting the underground right now.
