  • W.A.S.P. – BABYLON (Musick Review)
Somewhere in the hard rock and metal cosmos, Blackie Lawless was granted the same passage as Overkill, Motorhead and AC/DC where recording the same album over and over again is considered his charm and not his stigma.  Those following W.A.S.P. over the years will testify once Blackie Lawless officially...

  • Between the Buried and Me – THE GREAT MISDIRECT (Musick Review)
You’re either for or against what Between the Buried and Me has done to grind metal.  The form is no longer dictated by continuously forked-rhythm mandates which Napalm Death and Morbid Angel gorged themselves upon for years.  Between the Buried and Me’s ALASKA opened up the possibility of new...

Crossworm is one hell of a versatile Canadian, as evidenced by his latest release MOUTH FULL OF DIRT. MUSHROOMHEAD begins work on new album before tearing it up at next weeks WEEKEND OF HORRORS show

FANGORIA MUSICK - NEWS

mushroomhead_faceThe pioneering masked madmen Mushroomhead have locked themselves in their private studio at the Filthy Hands compound in Cleveland, Ohio to begin work on their seventh studio release, which is due out this summer via Megaforce/Sony Music.  Produced by co-founding member and drummer Steve “Skinny” Felton, the yet-to-be-titled new album promises to be the bands most violent and epic sounding to date!

Hell yeah, let’s go!states producer and drummer Steve Felton. After producing the last six albums I know what these guys can do, and once again they are killing it!  The cool thing about working with Mushroomhead is that there is always an idea on the table and someone brings it to the next level.  Every time someone tracks they raise the bar for the rest of the record,  Thank God!  They call each other out, they play each others parts, they even fist fight!  Their passion is undeniable, and that is what Rock & Roll is all about!  The sound is super dark and creepy, and even violent at times.”

Keyboardist Shmotz added, “The new album is off to a great start and is full of aggression and intensity, although it is tough to be creative and keep a solid drug habit with all of the illegal downloading and file sharing these days!”

FANGORIA Magazine and Mushroomhead have entered into a strategic partnership which will see the band performing at their upcoming WEEKEND OF HORRORS convention in Chicago next weekend on Friday, March 6th.. Fangoria Entertainment’s Scott Licina states, Mushroomhead is one of those unique acts that defy musical labels, regardless of image or demographic categorization.  The theatricality of their stage presentation is full out horror show, yet the songs themselves are amazingly diverse and complex, a far cry from the sonic banality of many of their contemporaries.  These are true musicians, who not only know how to rock it hard, but also understand the importance of substance and melody, and subtlety and timing.  Their music is as rich as their showmanship, and that's extremely rare in the world of alt metal.  It's the combination of all these high levels of excellence that makes MRH a great audio counterpart for FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT.  We pride ourselves on demanding the highest of standards for all our endeavors, and including the band into our 30th anniversary WEEKEND OF HORRORS events was an easy and natural decision.  We insist on the best for our readers and attendees, and having MRH do a special performance at the Shock-N-Roll Spooktacular fits that exacting criteria perfectly.”

If you need a quick Mushroomhead fix, check out their DVD release of VOLUME 2, available now on Filthy Hands/Megaforce Records. The new DVD features 2 ½ hours of pure mayhem featuring exclusive never before seen content, live footage from the past three years on their SAVIOR SORROW tour, music videos including Headbanger's Ball 2007 Video Of The Year “1200,” “Simple Survival,” and the band's brand new video “Save Us."  Other extras include video commentary, behind the scenes footage and band antics.
