Thanks to an overseas distribution deal made with French company TF1 and financing by Winchester, WATCHMEN screenwriter David Hayter is finally getting to direct his first feature length film, WOLVES.

After Roland Emmerich’s much-disparaged 1998 GODZILLA flick, it seemed like making movies about the Big G would be left thereafter to the Japanese (who do ’em right). But now it looks like U.S. filmmakers are about to give the kaiju another whirl.

Last week, it was announced that Jon Bernthal has been cast in THE WALKING DEAD. Today, news broke that Frank Darabont’s zombie series has an FX shop: KNB EFX Group.

The smoke has cleared and the dust settled on the Toronto edition of 2010 Comic Con, brought to you by Wizard World, and FANGORIA was on the scene to weed out the horror content, which admittedly wasn’t overwhelming. Still, those who did attend were genuine cult figures and we got up close and personal with a couple of them.

My hand shook precariously as I tried to write out my name on the sign-in sheet in the lobby of 250 West 49th street. I couldn’t believe that I was about to meet one of the men behind biggest magazine in horror, Tony Timpone.

One of the more popular items at the recent Monster-Mania convention in New Jersey was a T-shirt being sold by actor Doug Bradley expressing a sentiment many genre fans agree with: “Stop the Remakes” (see photo after the jump). As the HELLRAISER star explained to us, he was inspired to spread that thought as much by the movies that aren’t being made these days as by the ones that are.

Over the weekend, the winners of the 2009 Bram Stoker Awards were revealed at the Horror Writers Association’s Stoker banquet, held as part of the World Horror Convention in Brighton, UK. Eight honorees were named in various categories of fright literature, and you can see the complete list after the jump.

Word came down from producer/distributor Halo-8 Entertainment this morning that GODKILLER, the “illustrated film” by Matt Pizzolo featuring a host of horror folks among its voice cast, has set a premiere date and venue. A new trailer has also hit the web, and you can see it after the jump.

Stephen King’s 2005 Hard Case Crime novel THE COLORADO KID is the inspiration for the new Syfy series HAVEN. It was previously announced that JERICHO’s Emily Rose would be playing FBI Agent Audrey Parker, and now the actress has two new castmates.
