• Blue Underground will give director/producer Joseph Zito’s 1981 slasher film THE PROWLER, featuring some of Tom Savini’s grisliest makeup FX, its Blu-ray debut this summer. The story of a graduation dance stalked by a psychopath decades after brutal murder had put an end to the annual celebration is presented uncut and uncensored in full 1080p HD and 1.85:1 widescreen, with DTS-HD 7.1, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX and original mono soundtracks.

Having made his directorial debut with last year’s UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS, FX/creature creator Patrick Tatopoulos (pictured) has since been attached to helm DreamWorks’ aliens-on-an-airplane actioner NON-STOP and the comics adaptation I, FRANKENSTEIN. Now he has boarded another genre feature, SUSPENSION.

Rumors abound that actor, director, teacher and legendary special FX wizard Tom Savini will be returning to the foam-latex-and-Karo-syrup fold to handle the gore gags for FRIDAY THE 13TH: PART 2, the planned Platinum Dunes-backed sequel to last year’s remake. The prospect is delicious—along with his work on George A. Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD, Savini’s groundbreaking gags in Sean S. Cunningham’s original FRIDAY almost singlehandedly sparked the American splatter craze of the 1980s, and the visionary craftsman hasn’t done any real hands-on genre film work since 2002’s middling serial-killer biopic TED BUNDY.

Coming out July 9, PREDATORS is producer Robert Rodriguez (director of PLANET TERROR, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, THE FACULTY and the SPY KIDS franchise) and VACANCY director Nimrod Antal’s reboot of the 20th Century Fox franchise. Here’s a new international video in which the pair talk about the film.

It’s been a good couple of days for fans of British horror on disc. On top of the Synapse/Hammer and HORROR HOSPITAL news we reported here and here comes the scoop that the Amicus omnibus classic THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD and the Spanish/UK co-production HORROR EXPRESS (pictured left) are also coming on new special editions.

UK producer Jonathan Sothcott sent over a first look at the new international sales poster art for EXPOSÉ. The remake of the 1976 psychothriller (a.k.a. THE HOUSE ON STRAW HILL and TRAUMA) that starred Udo Kier and Linda Hayden (the latter of whom also appears in the redux) will be debuting at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
