Some of John Carpenter’s fans feel that his last truly worthwhile credit was 1998’s VAMPIRES, so they’ll be especially happy to hear that he’s returning to bloodsucker territory. He has been attached to direct FANGLAND for DAS Films and Blumhouse Productions.

It’s been an interesting day for interconnected DVD announcements. Earlier, we reported on two Texas-lensed horror features with cast/crew in common, SWEATSHOP and CLOSET SPACE, setting distribution deals, and now one of the companies involved has also picked up director Brian Corder’s CARNIES.

It has pulverized audiences at horror festivals over the last year or so, winning awards along the way, and now SWEATSHOP, director Stacy Davidson’s “smasher movie,” is getting ready to assault viewers on DVD sometime in early 2011.

Neil Jordan’s new film ONDINE (about a water nymph played by newcomer Alicja Bachleda) is seeing limited theatrical release starting today, and the INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and THE COMPANY OF WOLVES director is already working on and talking about his next project: a live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s THE GRAVEYARD BOOK.
