I am a huge admirer of European—specifically Italian—horror films. I love them for their decadence, for their wide-eyed, saturated melodrama, exaggerated violence and glorious music and sound design. And when I say “huge admirer,” what I’m really trying to articulate in a more respectable and somber manner is that I f**king worship Eurohorror so much that a great deal of my outlook on life is creatively informed by them. Pay attention to current and upcoming features in FANGORIA, and you’ll see me always carving out space for some of the greatest works and filmmakers behind them. Self-indulgent? You bet, but I know I’m not alone in my passions…

Yesterday, another casting announcement (actor Nico Tortorella) and character breakdowns were released for next spring’s return to Woodsboro. I thought with that relevant news I’d finally give a voice to the brainwaves that tell me, against my better judgment in a horror climate rampant with terrible studio output, I’m unabashedly excited for SCREAM 4.

A wide spectrum of famous names from the horror field offer their views on the genre in NIGHTMARES IN RED, WHITE AND BLUE, written and produced by Joseph Maddrey and based on his book of the same title. The documentary, directed and edited by Andrew Monument, now has set release dates in a variety of media.

Beginning this Thursday, the L.A. The debut trailer for the film has popped up in conjunction with the fest, so hit the jump and check it out below!

Get a heapin’ helpin’ of zombie comedy when Osiris Entertainment releases writer/director Patrick Horvath’s DIE-NER (GET IT?) on DVD August 24. Fango got a first look at the cover art and content info for the disc.

Do you remember Peter Newbrook’s THE ASPHYX (1973)? Black & Blue Films is producing a remake written and directed by Matthew McGuchan and produced by Jonathan Sothcott (which we last covered here), and a new cast announcement, as well as some artwork, have hit the web.

In Bram Stoker’s iconic 1897 novel DRACULA, there is roughly a chapter and a half devoted to the mysterious events that took place on board the Russian ship the Demeter. Having sailed from Varna, Bulgaria to the shores of Whitby, England during a violent storm, the schooner is discovered with no crew in sight and the captain’s carcass tied to the ship’s helm.

The CRAZIES director is already attached to a pair of major remakes: ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and FLASH GORDON. Yes, the director remains on board those two films. And yes, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK appears to be his next gig. But after ESCAPE, Eisner reportedly intends to film an adaptation of a Mark Wheatley comic

In Paul W.S. Anderson’s RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE 3D, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues on her journey to lead survivors to safety. However, her fight against the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights. Fortunately, Alice gets some help from an old friend, and a new lead takes them to Los Angeles, which turns out to be a haven for thousands of the undead. AFTERLIFE opens September 10. Check out the new poster after the jump.
