First lesson when casting acting newcomers in your new genre flick: surround them with acting pros like Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti and fright faves such as Clancy Brown (THE BRIDE, HIGHLANDER, upcoming HELLBENDERS), Doug Jones (HELLBOY, PAN’S LABYRINTH) and the legendary Tall Man himself, Angus Scrimm. That’s what writer/director Don Coscarelli did with his latest movie JOHN DIES AT THE END (now on VOD; beginning its multi-city theatrical rollout on January 25 from Magnet Releasing; see list here), which has been killing audiences since its debut at Sundance last year. FANGORIA’s editor emeritus Tony Timpone chatted with the PHANTASM/BUBBA HO-TEP filmmaker about his latest cult sensation, which he began spilling the beans about here. You can screen our continuing talk with Coscarelli below (edited and shot by ace videographer Bill Hall), and check back tomorrow for the final installment.

Right on on the Canadian side of the border lies Niagara Falls’ Clifton Hill, a mini Las Vegas filled with garish tourist trap attractions and most importantly, a glut of wax museums and a spate of incredible haunted attractions. This year, just outside of the location of CASTLE DRACULA, THE HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE HAUNTED HOUSE, NIGHTMARES and SCREAMERS, FANGORIA will be setting up shop, bringing an extra dose of horror.

People have long put much thought into whether the universe is cruel. AMERICAN HORROR STORY’s is. In ASYLUM, no one leaves Briarcliff unscathed.  No one really leaves. Those who did find a way out are drawn back, as if in a vicious circle, even though time progresses.

Debuting this week on DVD and Blu-ray is the latest catch-all genre parody, 30 NIGHTS OF PARANORMAL ACTIVITY…aw, hell, it’s too long to run in this intro. Fango spoke to one of the actresses spoofing a legendary recent screen heroine with a penchant for leather and piercings.

This continues to look intensely cool.

The latest from insane-o Japanese director Noboru Iguchi (MACHINE GIRL, KARATE-ROBO ZABORGAR) is getting a very limited engagement.

Laurent Durieux, who previously turned in Mondo's most incredible WOLF MAN piece is at it again.

It’s not often that an actress rides into the motion picture world on the crest of as much hype and critical adoration as has Jessica Chastain. Rarer still is when that actress entirely validates the hype surrounding her, as Chastain most definitely has, garnering her second Oscar nomination in as many years. With her ruthless CIA operative in ZERO DARK THIRTY currently ruling the box office, audiences can catch a different side of Chastain’s acclaimed range when director Andy Muschietti’s ghostly fable MAMA his theaters this Friday.

The highly anticipated sequel to last year's frenzied, first-person anthology previews the zombies, shaking cameras and birthday cake to come.

The poster for this UK Sundance midnighter asks you to read between the trees.

For people in the Toronto area, as a thank you for all the support for the wildly successful FANGORIA sponsored Fright Nights screening series in 2012, programmer Kelly Michael Stewart is giving patrons a free screening this Saturday night at The Projection Booth East (1035 Gerrard St East)!

Chad Crawford Kinkle's SlamDance premiere looks to be the strange, swirling, off-kilter time we'd hoped.
