Word broke last night and we can happily confirm that FANGORIA is back in the movie production business. We’ve teamed up with veteran producer/financier Robbie Little and his Accelerator banner to create a series of theatrical fright features, starting with a remake of Bob Clark’s 1972 cult classic CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (pictured).

To make the movies, FANGORIA Entertainment has started up the Gravesend Film Enterprises division, in which we’re partnered with longtime filmmaker/distributor Steven Mackler. The redux of CHILDREN, whose scenario of a theater troupe raising the dead during an island getaway will be updated from the original, will be executive-produced by FANGORIA Entertainment president Thomas DeFeo, Little and Mackler, with official talent announcements to follow shortly. “I’m very excited,” DeFeo says. “I’m a big Bob Clark fan, and that’s why we chose to remake this movie. There are going to be a lot of zombies, a lot of good stuff, and we’re assembling a wonderful production team—the best—and also a great cast. This is going to be the start of many more great horror movies—originals and remakes. I’m excited to be working with Robbie Little and Steve Mackler on these projects; given their experience in the business, it really made sense to team up with them on this venture.”

Also on the slate is CLEOPATRA BRIMSTONE, based on the novella by Elizabeth Hand and centering on a withdrawn grad student who becomes the victim of a campus assault. Relocating to London, she continues to be subjected to unwanted male attention and develops the titular alter ego to violently deal with them. Shooting on this film is set to begin next summer on London locations.
