“Who’s the scariest guy in America? Probably Jack Ketchum?” That’s what Stephen King said about the author of such books as PEACEABLE KINGDOM & OFF SEASON. Four of his books—OFFSPRING, RED, THE LOST and THE GIRL NEXT DOOR—have been turned into feature films. The GIRL NEXT DOOR adaptation came out in 2007, directed by Gregory Wilson, and now the novel is being re-released as JACK KETCHUM’S THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: MOVIE OMNIBUS (Limited Edition).
Horror Mall reports that Cargo Cult Press in conjunction with MODERNCINÉ studio will be releasing this special edition. Ketchum’s book is a chilling tale inspired by true events. Set in the 1950s, the story centers on the teenaged Meg and her crippled sister Susan, whose parents died in an accident and are sent to live in the suburbs with a sadistic Aunt who is descending into a madness that infects her three sons as well. The Limited Edition Hardcover is priced at $75 and set to be released October 31, 2010 (subject to change). The book is signed by all of the contributors and will include:
* The original screenplay written by Daniel Farrands & Philip Nutman
* An introduction by Jack Ketchum
* Essays written by Blanche Baker (the actress who played Ruth Chandler in the film), Blythe Auffarth (the actress who played Meg Loughlin), producer Andrew van den Houten, director Gregory Wilson, composer Ryan Shore, producer & cinematographer William M. Miller and an interview with Ketchum, Farrands & Nutman
* Behind-the-scenes photos
* A DVD of the film and the music score will be included and housed in the binding of the book.
