The year is 1987. Progressive horror author Clive Barker was nearing completion on his first feature as director, the cruel parable of cancerous, sado-masochistic love called HELLRAISER. Barker had enlisted underground Industrial duo Coil to provide a suitably sludgy and grinding musical accompaniment to his dark romance, but Coil soon called off their efforts over what was reportedly a mutual decision with Barker.

Hankering for a dress that combines Bettie Page rockabilly pin-up style with Elvira’s flair humor and the macabre? Then look no further than this sassy, stylish little number festooned with bloodshot eyeballs, bat wings, squiggles and lightning bolts. It’s a kitschy dress, for sure, but it’s also, er, “eye-catching” to say the least. Let’s just say you’ll be the life and the death of the party in Sourpuss Clothing’s newly released Batty Peepers Jet Girl dress.

For an episode that promised one of horror’s favorite motifs (sullying the sacred/cheerful) in Killer Santa, “Unholy Night” ended up a relatively minor holiday treat. Of course, there’s nowhere else in the world for Ian McShane and Jessica Lange to come together in a verbal sparring-cum-caning as a deranged Santa and pious nun act out a warped staging of the war for Christmas, and all of our holiday reverence. So, Merry Christmas AMERICAN HORROR STORY, you’ve kicked off December in a just deranged-enough manner.

It's always a dame, ain't it?  A slinky girl in killer heels with a cheetah walk, ticking men off her list like she's grocery shopping. But when Dr. Vincent Morrow has the bad luck of coming across the one woman with a living parasite for a tongue, he suddenly finds himself trapped in a life or death struggle with a shadowy man in black. Looks like it's another day in the office for the supernatural doctor, where the bizarre and the arcane are an everyday occurrence.

After what seems like an eternal hiatus, writer/artist/actor Terrence Zdunich (REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA) has gotten back on his four color horse with the seventh, and latest, installment in his self-published domestic horror title THE MOLTING. Presumably, Zdunich had his bloodied hands busy with his second Darren Lynn Bousman collaboration THE DEVILS CARNIVAL, but it was an admitted bummer for this writer to stop receiving this slow burning, unbearably intense and uncomfortable masterpiece of a title without warning. We’re glad to have it back.

The horror genre has a great history of Christmas films. There is just something about spending time with your extended family, preparing complicated meals and opening ill-thought-out gifts, that makes people want to take solace in murder and mayhem.
