The likes of Guillermo del Toro, SUPER 8’s J.J. Abrams and
Oscar-winning makeup king Rick Baker dropped by Monsterpalooza not as guests,
but just fans taking in the copious convention sights. With stars like THE
HOWLING’s Dee Wallace (who said I didn’t scare her), to Natassja Kinski (!)
showing up at the CAT PEOPLE panel on Sunday, the Monsterpalooza action was
nonstop, and so were the lines. Where else could you see actor James Hong doing
reciting lines from BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA? The BLADE RUNNER star had the
whole audience in tears! The costume contest even boasted a zombie dance off.
On Sunday, I was able to walk though the Monsterpalooza Museum. There I was greeted to an ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTIEN display (with Bud and Lou and the Universal Monsters) and the gremlin from the film adaptation of THE TWILIGHT ZONE, just to name two favorites. I’ll be sharing pics from the event at Fangoria.com over the next few days (three parts in all). Suffice to say, next April’s Monsterpalooza can’t come soon enough. You can watch for show updates here.
