Acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar (TIE ME UP! TIE
ME DOWN!, VOLVER, TALK TO HER) goes
darker than he ever did before with his latest film, the brilliant thriller THE
SKIN I LIVE IN (opening today in NY and LA from Sony Pictures Classics, with theatrical
expansion to follow). FANGORIA’s Tony Timpone caught up with the film’s
exceptional cast, stars Antonio Banderas (DESPERADO and SPY
KIDS films) and Elena Anaya (FRAGILE, VAN HELSING), both Almodóvar veterans. You
can check out the exclusive chat (edited by our pals at K Studios) with Anaya
below.
THE SKIN I LIVE IN follows a brilliant but mad plastic surgeon (Banderas’ stoic Dr. Ledgard), who keeps a young woman prisoner (Anaya, whose main costume consists of a sexy body stocking and a facial mask that echoes Georges Franju’s EYES WITHOUT A FACE and Jess Franco’s THE AWFUL DR. ORLOF) in his home to conduct his radical skin graft experiments. But underneath the epidermis of this horrifying and dramatic chillfest is a surprise revelation that will knock your socks off.
Stay tuned for our exclusive Banderas video interview on Monday and check out the preview in FANGORIA #307, now on sale. You can find the film’s official website here.
