Fango just received the official poster art for the upcoming theatrical release of THE BLACK WATERS OF ECHO’S POND, along with a rundown of the cities where the flick will be unspooling.

I first became aware of Joshua Grannell and his alter ego, Peaches Christ, on a trip to San Francisco in 2000? 2001? I was dating a guy who had moved down from SF to Los Angeles, and on one of our many trips up north, we took in a screening of SHOWGIRLS at the Midnight Mass summer film series. Peaches was the host of the evening, and the show opened with a re-enactment of both the “Goddess” number and the “Nomi F**ks Zack in the pool” scene with drag queens (and one drag king playing “Zack”). I was hooked.

Right now, vampire horror is having its heyday. Everyone wants to be around the vampires; they’re the equivalent of the most popular kid on the block…the queen of the prom, the captain of the football team, that rock star you’re just dying to meet. If I were a zombie, I would be jealous. So today, it’s not vampires I’m writing about—it’s the undead, as seen in one of the most interesting short films I’ve viewed recently: PLAGUE, directed by Matt Simpson and co-directed by and starring Joseph Avery.

The Asylum is known for its blatant ripoffs of popular films. From SNAKES ON A TRAIN to TRANSMORPHERS to PARANORMAL ENTITY, these “mockbusters” have ga rnered it a certain notoriety. So it’s no surprise that after Guy Ritchie’s SHERLOCK HOLMES blockbuster, the company would do its own version—with a twist.

Author/lecturer/physician Deepak Chopra (pictured) is known as an expert on the spiritual, but now he has ventured into the supernatural for a graphic-novel project that’s also being turned into a movie.

How can such a tiny thing kick butt so effectively? That’s the first thing this writer thinks upon meeting actress Radha Mitchell at a post-screening Q & A for THE CRAZIES, Overture Films’ remake of the George A. Romero cult fave directed by Breck Eisner, in which she stars. But as soon as she opens her mouth, the reason becomes apparent: Mitchell may not be a giant among women, but she is fearless about staring down whatever challenges come her way.

After much uncertainty about when Vincenzo Natali’s SPLICE would reach theaters, following the financial troubles of previous distributor Senator Entertainment, comes word that it has been set as a prime summer attraction.

New Line Cinema sent over a theater banner graphic for its upcoming release of the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, featuring a new image of Freddy Krueger in teen-threatening mode. Check it out after the jump.

Fango got ahold of an exclusive scene excerpt from POSSESSION, the supernatural drama starring Sarah Michelle Gellar that hits DVD and Blu-ray next week. Give it a look after the jump.

The documentary accompanying THE DOUBLE BORN on Celebrity’s recently released DVD explains that writer/director Tony (HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II) Randel’s motivations for making the film involved his weariness of shallow big-studio product. There’s no doubt this is a noble intention—many of us have the same issues with Hollywood and safe, big-budget horror fare—but this was not the way to go about retaliating.

Few actors have a hold on the genre like Bill Moseley, whose manic energy and oft-frightening villainous portrayals warrants being excited about any new film he’s in. Well, Fango heard from Chop-Top himself as he provided some updates regarding not only his most recently completed film, ROGUE RIVER, but the new album from his musical project Spider Mountain.

Who hasn’t read a piece of classic literature and thought, “Hey, this would make a great video game?” I think back to countless boring hours spent in college, listening to someone drone on about symbolism while thinking, “I wish I could see the bloodshed of MACBETH laid out in a gory platformer.” Luckily, the good people at Visceral Games share such sentiments, and have re-interpreted the first third of Dante Aligheri’s THE DIVINE COMEDY with DANTE’S INFERNO (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3).
