Italian director Ivan Zuccon takes a thoughtful approach to H.P. Lovecraft’s seminal short story “The Colour Out of Space” in COLOUR FROM THE DARK (now out on DVD from Vanguard), transplanting the story from America to rural Italy, 1943. Right at the center of “The Great War,” just as it seemed Europe would fall to the fascists and the Nazis, we are introduced to Pietro and Lucia, who live on an isolated farm with Lucia's younger sister, Alice.

Fans of Hammer Films’ 1970s outings will rejoice that DVD outfit Synapse Films has acquired the rights to four titles from the library of the classic British horror studio. Among them are three features that have never previously been available on optical disc in the U.S.

Yet another new poster promoting ALL ABOUT EVIL has come our way from writer/director Joshua Grannell, this one depicting the character played by Thomas Dekker. Grannell also sent along info on EVIL’s Texas premiere at Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse.

Dark Delicacies, the Burbank, California store (located at 4213 W. Burbank Boulevard) devoted to all things horror, has announced its April and May signings, including a NEVER SLEEP AGAIN event that should delight A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET fans. Other favorites from the worlds of horror cinema and literature will be popping in as well. Here’s the April-May lineup:

At a recent screening of their highly stylized debut feature AMER at New York City’s Lincoln Center as part of its New Directors/New Films series, Fango got to chat briefly with directors Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani. We also learned of an impending U.S. release for the movie.

Director Dennis Iliadis (pictured), who did a better job than a lot of people probably expected directing last year’s remake of THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, has settled on his next genre project. He’ll helm PAY THE GHOST for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Mark Gordon Productions and Midnight Kitchen Productions.

Actor Emile Hirsch (pictured), from LORDS OF DOGTOWN, INTO THE WILD and SPEED RACER, is now set to embark on an adventure of the supernatural kind. He has been cast in THE DARKEST HOUR, an upcoming film in the 28 DAYS LATER vein from New Regency and Summit Entertainment.

Texas-based writer/director Mel House and producer/actor James LaMarr sent up the word that their new feature WALKING DISTANCE will have its premiere screening next week. The movie is a last-minute addition to the currently running Dallas International Film Festival.

Haunted by premonitions, Lobster Girl—an exotic dancer with claws for hands—sets off on a journey to find Light, the child who was stolen from her years ago. But before the two can be happily reunited, they must first face the murderous wrath of the psychopathic albino rapist Snow, Light’s biological father.
