Yes, the rape-revenge remake is on its way to disc, and specs and art have come through…but Meir Zarchi’s original is also coming in new editions as well.
All four discs are coming from Anchor Bay Entertainment February 8. The 2010 SPIT, directed by Steven R. Monroe and starring Sarah Butler (pictured) as the vengeful Jennifer Hills, will be issued in its unrated form in anamorphic 2.35:1 widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on the DVD and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio on the Blu-ray. Zarchi’s original director's cut of SPIT will be presented in anamorphic 1.78:1 widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on the DVD and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio on the Blu-ray. Special features for the redux will include:
• Audio commentary by Monroe and producer Lisa Hansen
• Behind-the-scenes featurette
• Deleted scenes
• Theatrical trailer and teaser
And more. The original SPIT will come with commentaries by Zarchi and Joe Bob Briggs from the previous DVDs and an all-new interview with Zarchi about his film’s production and its legacy. Retail prices for the remake is $29.97 for the DVD and $34.99 for the Blu-ray; prices for the original are $19.98 for the DVD and $24.99 for the Blu-ray.
